When to use a water-soluble topping and why:
A water-soluble topping, also known as a water-soluble stabilizer or film, is a clear film placed on top of a garment or fabric before you begin embroidering. It is most useful when embroidering on fabrics with a raised or textured surface, such as:
Fleece
Terry cloth
Piqué knits
Velvet
Corduroy
You can find the water soluble topping here:

The topping acts as a barrier, preventing the embroidery stitches from sinking into the fabric’s nap or texture. This ensures that the stitches sit on top of the fabric, creating a clear, crisp, and defined design. It is especially helpful for designs with small lettering or intricate details, as it keeps them from getting lost in the fabric.
After the embroidery is complete, the water-soluble topping is easily removed by tearing away the excess and then dissolving the remaining small bits with a damp cloth or by washing the garment.
